The benefits of aquarium catfish and how effective they can be

 When putting your aquarium together, you need to research proper aquarium lighting, air pumps, heaters, gravel and other supplies.  The fun part is choosing all the fish.  One type to consider is the aquarium catfish.  A popular breed is the Synodontis catfish which will fit into your aquarium nicely.  These aquarium catfish get along well with other fish, are energetic and fun to watch.

Synodontis aquarium catfish often swim upside down when they are hungry or excited.  They are usually nocturnal so make sure to include a cave or something that they can live under during the day.  Catfish actually enjoy each other’s company so it is a good idea to have a minimum of three in the same tank.  Feel free to have more if you like.

Aquarium catfish often grow up to 4” long but can grow larger.  If cared for properly, they can live up to 10 years.  They have a fairly simple diet of floating flake food for tropical fish so no special treatment is required.  We always recommend getting them because of their heartiness and entertainment value.
